Preparation

This posture helps in strengthening the arms, shoulders, chest and upper back, toning the abdominal muscles and lower back. Let's look at the steps: Stand erect with feet widely spread apart. This is the starting position.

Method

Step 1

Now, keep your left hand in the centre on the floor

Step 2

Inhale, twist your trunk and raise your right hand up

Step 3

Both the hands should form a straight line

Step 4

Now, look up toward the right hand

Step 5

Hold the posture for 5 breaths

Step 6

Exhale; bring your left hand back on the floor

Step 7

Return to the starting position

Step 8

Repeat on the right side

Step 9

Precautions: People with serious neck/arm/shoulder problems should not practice this posture.
