Preparation

This asana provides a deep muscular massage to the abdomen, toning the digestive organs, alleviating disorders of the large intestine and stimulating the digestive fire. Let's look at how it's done. Assume santolanasana, variation 1. Bend the left knee and place the foot on the right thigh as in Ardha Padmasana. The chest and extended right arm should be in one plane. This is the final position.

Method

Step 1

Hold for as long as is comfortable without strain

Step 2

Then return to vajrasana and change to the other side Balance in the pose for the same length of time as on the right side

Step 3

Come back into santolanasana, placing the right palm back on the floor

Step 4

Relax in shashankasana

Step 5

And that's how you do Kashyapasana

Precautions: People with injuries to the wrists, elbows or shoulder joints should avoid this pose.
