Red lentils(Masoor daal)- 100gm
Oil/ghee- 10gm
Onion- 50gm
Tomatoes-100gm
Green chilli- 1-2
Whole spices- cardamom, cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon stick.
Dry spices- turmeric powder(0.5 tsp), red chilly powder(3 tsp), cumin powder(0.5 tsp), coriander powder (1tsp), cinnamon powder(0.5 tsp), mixed herbs(0.5 tsp), dried fenugreek leaves( 1tsp)
Cumin seeds+mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Ginger + garlic powder= 2 tsp
In a pan, add ghee followed by cumin and mustard seeds and heat it slightly, thereafter add all whole spices and continue sautéing it until it leaves aroma.
After that add chopped onion and saute for - minutes, followed by green chillies and chopped tomatoes and continue sautéing it for - minutes on medium flame. Add ginger garlic powder and all the spices except herbs and dried fenugreek leaves. Continue cooking it until it leaves oil.
Wash the soaked red lentils(jusk soak for - minutes before cooking) and add it to the pan adding - cups of water. Let it simmer for - minutes until the lentils are cooked through.
Add remaining spices, salt and boiled eggs and serve with plain rice or chapati. You may add other veggies like capsicum, carrots, corn as per your choice. Also vegetarian and vegan can avoid adding eggs
