Udad dal - 50 g
Curd - 250 g
Ghee / Oil - 10 g
Curry leaves, ginger, green chilli, red chilli powder, jeera, mustard seeds (Rai), chaat masala & salt to taste
Baking soda - pinch
Low calorie sweetener - 1 g
Soak Udad dal overnight & blend it along with half inch ginger, . green chillies, / Tsp jeera powder & a pinch of salt (make sure to add bare minimum water as the batter needs to be really thick)
Once the batter is ready, add some baking soda to it & let it sit for a few mins until we prepare the dahi.
Beat the curd until it's nice & smooth. Add low calorie sweetener, salt to taste.
Once the batter has fluffled up a little, take an Appe pan (the pan with cups in it), oil the pan with an oil brush, once it's hot, add the batter to the cups in it, don't add too much.
Let the vade cook on medium heat, once a side is done, flip it so the other side gets done too.
Add the vade to the curd & let it soak up the flavours.
Now the final & most important step, the tadka, take oil in a kadai & once it's hot add some mustard seeds to it, once it starts crackling, add jeera to it, followed by curry leaves a few seconds later & dried red chilli, heat it for a few more seconds before taking it off the stove.
Your tadka is now ready, pour it over the dahi wada dish, top this all with some chaat masala & red chilli powder.
Your delicious steet style but healthy dahi vade are ready to enjoy to the fullest!
