What is whey protein?
Protein-based supplements are among the most popular supplements in the segment of dietary supplements. There are available in the form of powders, drinks, bars, and now even in form of carbonated drinks.
Among the many choices available to consumers, powder continues to dominate the market because of its efficient nutrition value, fast digestibility, and competitive pricing, and among powders, whey protein is the most popular.
Whey protein powder is actually a by-product of cheese making process, during the cheese-making process, the milk is heated to remove unwanted bacteria, which separates the milk into curd and liquid whey.
There are three types of whey proteins available in the market
(i) Whey protein concentrate : The concentration of protein can be above 80 percent to 90 percent. It is the most economical protein available among the three types of whey protein
(ii) Whey protein isolate : Isolates are generally further processed to remove fat and lactose and have a protein content of around 90-95 percent. They are slightly expensive as compared to concentrate whey protein.
(ii) Whey protein hydrolyzed : Hydrolyzed protein is often known as the purest form of whey protein as well. It goes through the process of hydrolysis. It has around 98 percent concentration. It is the most expensive and least tasty.

Whey protein for women?
The skepticism that women show towards weight training is the same for whey protein as well. It largely is a consequence of how whey protein has been packaged, marketed, and of course, there is a lack of general awareness.
Generally, whey protein is promoted as a muscle-building supplement, which is true of course but it is also marketed by fitness models, bodybuilders, and celebrities who are known to carry exceptional physiques which appeals only the certain target audience and puts away people who are beginners, and especially females who already carry a fear of being bulky.
In reality, whey protein is nothing more than just an aid to fulfill the protein requirements of an individual irrespective of gender and age. Protein requirements can also be fulfilled with proper food intake, for example, the calories and protein (essential amino acids) offered by whey protein are not different from 100 grams of chicken and 40 grams of soya. The factor which makes difference for whey protein is the convenience of consuming.
Hence, consuming whey protein by a woman is completely safe and effective and it is no different from men. so, if whey protein offers a great degree of convenience in finishing daily protein requirements and is affordable, we encourage considering the same as a part of your diet.
