Ingredients for SPICY JEERA ALOO
- › Potatoes 200 gms
- › Oil (any, i used coconut) 15gms
- › Cumin seeds 1.5 tsp,Turmeric- 1/4 th tsp, Chilli powder- 1 to 1.5 tsp, Salt- 1 tsp(as per taste),
Method
1. Wash potatoes thoroughly and dice into mall pieces with the skin intact.
2. In a non-stick pan, heat oil, put in cumin seeds and let them splutter, add turmeric and immediately add potatoes(or turmeric may burn). Saute these potatoes in the oil once and now add the red chilli powder and salt. You can adjust spice and salt as per your palate. I love spicy potatoes so I put more chilli powder. Saute these well on moderate flame.
3. Mix all well and cover the pan. Keep the flame low to moderate for 8-10 min. Keep sauteing in between as spices may stick to the base. In between you can randomly select a big piece of potato and try cutting through it with your spoon. If it cuts easily, the aloo is done. Switch off the flame and cover the potatoes for 5 more min. Enjoy with bread/roti/curd/rice or just like that plain!! Its all time favourite of kids too!
