When you have limited carbs in your diet, you gotta make yummy recipes out of dal macors. I promise you guys that this ones tastes exactly like the vada sambar with deep fried vadas. 1.Soak 50gm urad dal overnight. 2.Grind to a smooth paste using 1tbsp water at a time. The batter consistency should neither be too thick or thin, as thin batter would make rubbery vadas while thin batter vadas would end up absorbing all the oil and become soggy. 3. Beat the batter very well for perfect texture. Rest for 10-15 mins or till the time you prepare sambar. 4. Add cumin, black pepper and salt. Mix well. 5. Heat appe pan and cook vadas on both sides for approx 3-4 minutes each side. For Sambar: 1. Cook onions, tomatoes and other veggies of your choice in 1.5 cups of water. 2. Once veggies are cooked, add sambar masala, amchur powder and salt as per taste. Cook for 5 more minutes. 3. Add 20gm cooked toor/moong dal or mix dal. (I used moong dal). The dal should be completely cooked and mashed for perfect taste. 4. Let it boil while you prepare tempering. For tempering 1. Heat 5 gm oil. Add mustard, cumin. 2. Add kashmiri red chillies, curry leaves and little bit sambar masala. 3. When leaves dry up, switch off stove and add hing. 4. Pour tempering over sambar. Dip vadas in sambar and enjoy.
