Sweet, sour and tangy yogurt based gravy with achaari flavour.

Ingredients

  • listcheck200 gram Chicken
  • listcheck1 small onion - chopped finely or grated
  • listcheck1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • listcheck1/4 tsp haldi powder
  • listcheck1/2 tsp salt
  • listcheck1/2 tsp sugar
  • listcheck1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • listcheck50 gram curd, beaten till smooth
  • listcheck1tbsp lemon juice
  • listcheckSome fresh dhaniya for garnishing
  • listcheck2-3 cloves
  • listcheck2-3 cardamoms
  • listcheck1/4 tsp shahjeera
  • listcheck1/4 tsp methi dana (Fenugreek seeds)
  • listcheck1/8 tsp kalaunji (onion seeds)
  • listcheck1/2 tsp rai (mustard seeds)
  • listchecka pinch of hing (asafoetida)
  • listcheck2-3 dry red chillies
  • listcheck20 g oil
  • Method

  • Step-1
    Marinate chicken in curd, ginger garlic paste, salt and red chilli powder. Keep it aside for one hour.
  • Step-2
    Heat mustard oil till it smokes. Add all the whole spices and fry till methi dana turns golden.
  • Step-3
    Add onion and fry till golden. Add chicken and haldi, fry for 2-3 minutes on high flame.
  • Step-4
    Add left over marinade, keep stirring till it boils. Cook, stirring all the time till oil separates.
  • Step-5
    Add enough water, adjust salt, add sugar and bring it to boil. Cover, lower heat and cook for 10-15 minutes or till chicken turns tender.
  • Step-6
    Add lemon juice, mix and switch off the flame.
  • Step-7
    Serve hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
