Chana Dal Fara is another popular dish of UP and Bihar. I posted the Kala Chana Ghugni recipe earlier and hope to post more regional cuisine recipes. Fara is also called gojha or peetha in different parts of the state. It is a gujiya shaped steamed lentil stuffed dumplings. Try out this Chana Dal Fara Recipe.

Ingredients

  • listcheck2/1/2 cup wheat flour
  • listcheck1/1/2 cup chana dal soaked
  • listcheck2 to 3 green chillies chopped
  • listchecksalt to taste
  • listcheck1tsp astofida
  • listcheck2tnsp onion chopped
  • listcheck2 tsp red chilli powder
  • listcheck1tsp cumin seeds
  • listcheck1/2 tsp garlic chooped
  • listcheck2 tbsp oil
  • listcheck1 tsp ginger
  • listcheck1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Method

  • Step-1
    Knead the soft dough with 1 tsp salt and water.
  • Step-2
    Make a paste with Dal,salt, astofida, green chilli, and coriander leaves.
  • Step-3
    Divide the dough into equal small portion and roll out the small poories, stuff with mixture and seal it.
  • Step-4
    Boil 4 glass water with 1 tsp salt and 1tsp oil.
  • Step-5
    Cook them for 15 minutes, Let them cool.
  • Step-6
    Cut them into small pieces, Now heat the oil in a non- stick pan.
  • Step-7
    Saute the cumin , green chilli, ginger, and onion, Add cooked Fara, dry mango powder, red chilli powder, 1/4 tsp salt fry till golden.
  • Step-8
    Serve hot with green chilli and coriander chutney and tomato sauce.
