Bored of eating dal and rice ?? How about making a simple South Indian dish

Ingredients

  • listcheck10gm ghee
  • listcheck1tsp cumin seeds
  • listcheck2 tsp black pepper crushed
  • listcheckLittle ginger chopped
  • listcheck1 green chilly
  • listcheckFew curry leaves
  • listcheckPinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • listcheck30gms moong dal (uncooked)
  • listcheck30gms rice (uncooked)
  • Method

  • Step-1
    In a pressure cooker add moong dal and rice
  • Step-2
    Add one cup water and little ghee
  • Step-3
    Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame
  • Step-4
    In a Pan add pressure cooked dal and rice , 1.5 cup water and salt as per taste
  • Step-5
    Stir until water is absorbed
  • Step-6
    Cover and keep aside till you prepare your tempering
  • Step-7
    To prepare tempering heat the remaining ghee add cumin , pepper , chilli , ginger , Hing and curry leaves
  • Step-8
    Pour it over dal and rice mixture and mix gently
  • Step-9
    Finally Pongal is ready and you can serve it with a spoon of Coconut chutney (adjust the macros in plan of course )
