... I’m back once again with a one course meal recipe... and this time it’s quintessentially Bong 😃...Bengalis and Macher Jhol always compliments each other....what I'm trying to say is, in almost every Bengali family, Macher Jhol takes the leading part in daily menu, either in lunch or dinner. Once daily it's must. And this typical fish curry or Macher Jhol must be light and runny curry, with minimum use of spices and sweet water carp fishes like Rohu/Katla/Mrigel/Kal boush/Tilapia are the first preference for this recipe. There are lots of recipes you can find for Bengali Macher Jhol, as every family has a secret heirloom recipe. This recipe belongs to my Mother-in-law , but I’ve given it my own twist by adding an enormous amount of veggies to complete greens intake for the day . ( normally Bongs would only use a few pieces of potatoes & parwal )

Ingredients

  • listcheckFish 300gm (I’ve use fish fillet, but true-blue Bongs would use Rohu fish😋)
  • listcheckParwal, cauliflower, green papaya, green beans, brinjal ... washed & cut ... 25gm of each veggie.
  • listcheckSpices : turmeric pwdr half tsp, cumin pwdr 2 tsp, chili powder & salt as per taste . 1tsp mustard powder soaked in 1tbsp water .
  • listcheckI’ve used 15ml ghee (Bongs prefer using Mustard oil )
  • Method
