For new moms, pregnancy and motherhood is a joyful ride, but some also experience worry, frustration, disappointment, competition, and even anger and fear. Motherhood brings in an identity shift, one of the major physical, social and psychological change, a female will ever experience in her life span. Having kids brings forced insomnia, a long daily task list, short time to complete the same, plus a heavenly feeling of loving someone beyond your thoughts and imagination. All this makes near to impossible for new moms to take care of themselves, but it is as important as taking care of your baby. You all must have seen flight attendants giving instruction to help yourself first in case of emergency before you try to help others. So, what I want to bring in, is how important it is for new mothers to eat healthy and exercise. I will try to highlight few aspects of new mother’s daily routine and how you can sneak some of time for yourself, keeping in mind there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution for incorporating exercise in your daily routine. Here are few aspects where you can focus and bring the change:

Today we will talk about SNACKS: All of us include snacks in our diet, and for new moms its essential to include snacks in their diet, as they feel hungrier frequently. Here I am not talking about food snacks but ‘exercise snacks’ which you can add in your daily routine. If you don’t have time for an elaborate meal than sneak in small mini-workout sessions throughout the day. Make a list of exercises which you love, and can be performed at home in less time, with corresponding number of sets and reps. Try to do as many reps as possible whenever you have few minutes. Few exercises which you can incorporate in your plan can be, body weight or chair squats, jumping jacks, bicycle crunches, push-ups, bridges, planks, lunges, and many more. You can also include stretching exercises. So, at the end of the day all sums up to a full-fledged workout session. So, new moms try this; * It will bring new strength in your body to deal with daily tasks. *Keep the feeling of frustration and stress at bay. *Gives you a feeling of self-importance and self-love. There are many aspects to motherhood well being which I will be sharing in coming days. Stay healthy, stay connected……
