Listen To Your Favorite Music

Everyone has a different taste in music, and the same applies to listen to music while doing the workout. Some might like listening to Rap, some don't but have you ever thought that t the choice of your song can have an impact on your workout performance.

Well, check out this study, which examined whether listening to your preferred song have any advantage on the bench press performance. Twelve subjects were asked to lift 300 lb weight on the bench press for reps, and at the end of the study, there was an improvement in the number of reps. The group which listened to their preferred song lifted one rep extra on average, and yes, the number might not look impressive, but considering 300 lb weight lifted, it is significant enough. Not just that, the motivation was higher, too, in the subjects listening to their preferred song by an effect size of 6 (self-evaluation by analog visual method), which again is pretty significant. Now when it comes to practical application, if your gym plays your favorite songs, then you need not change anything in this respect but if not, then how about carrying a pair headphone to the gym with your favorite playlist of songs. Also, it is a known fact that listening to music while working out can have a positive impact on your performance then don't miss out on this opportunity.
