Dealing with Anxiety and Depression

Sleep & Stress
- By Navdeep Chawla

Anxiety and Depression (A and D) are classified as modern age diseases where everything has become virtual. But how can we keep away from them? In the study made by Professor Steven L’Lardi, he recommends trying out the following remedies: 1. Physical Activity: Helps regulate the Serotonin and Dopamine hormone levels. 2. Omega 3: Has anti-inflammatory actions that may help relieve depression. 3. Sunlight / Vitamin D: Apart from improving bone and muscle health, sunlight also boosts your immune system and mood. 4. Smart phones: Try avoiding phones and the television at least 45 minutes prior to bed. Use the bed only for sleep. 5. Ruminative thoughts: Stop holding those memories that were unpleasant, and engage yourself in a hobby. 6. Social connections: Man is a social animal. Face to face communication is the most natural way to communicate. 7. Anchor your thoughts: Focus on the good things in life. Take a deep breath and count backwards from 10 to 1. Your brain will immediately listen to you. You cannot change the memories, but you can always dwell on the pleasant ones, and even create new ones. Keep yourself positive and engaged at all times to fight depression!
