======================================= The main aim of the cooldown is to promote recovery and return the body to a pre-exercise, or pre work out level. During a strenuous work out your body goes through a number of stressful processes. Muscle fibers, tendons, and ligaments get damaged, and waste products build up within your body. Cooling down has been proved to help reduce the effects of exercises Cooling down period can be around 10-20 minutes post workout The changes that take place during cool down are:The heart rate and breathing to return towards resting levels gradually; gradual decrease in body temperature; gradual decrease in heart rate and blood pressure; body starts to come back to resting levels; The increase in tissue temperature the post-exercise period is an ideal time to stretch and improve or maintain joint range of movement and flexibility. The benefits of cool down are -Helps prepare your muscles for the next exercise session, whether it's the next day or in a few days' time; Post Exercise Muscle Soreness, also referred to as Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) is one of the areas where cooling down after exercise is most useful.
