3 Diets you should never ever try!
If you value your health, sanity, savings and sense of self-worth, stay far away from these diets! They may seem attractive and promise fast results but that’s not going to happen. Here are the Top 3 Worst Diets that you need to avoid: Single Food Diets You might have heard of a banana diet and watermelon diet. They advocate consuming only this one food in any quantity - but no other food. Such diets trick you into creating an aggressive calorie deficit. As these foods are pretty low in calories, it is next to impossible to overconsume calories with just that single food item. There are many problems with this type of diet. Firstly, it often leads to a severe protein deficiency, which means you are likely to lose some muscle. Second, when you go off the diet, you will likely replace the specific food with foods from your old habits. This diet has not taught you any sustainable strategies or healthy diet habits. Finally, the combination of these problems means that you will have rebound weight gain, and this gain is likely to be fat and not muscle, leaving you with worse body composition than when you started - a double whammy! Elimination Diets This means cutting out an entire food group out of your life in a bid to create quicker weight loss. In the medical field, it is often used for the treatment of a few diseases but we won’t cover that part. Cutting out an entire food group, especially where a significant chunk of calories comes from that food, can drastically reduce your calorie intake and cause weight loss. For example, cutting down on dairy completely when your dairy consumption is high may cause weight loss at that time, but that is not a long term strategy as it does not allow progressive decrease and increase of calories. Any weight loss that occurs is likely to be temporary. “Eat Fat To Burn Fat” Diets You must have come across this statement: when you consume a lot of dietary fat, your body turns into a fat-burning machine, which is true. Unfortunately, the additional fat you are burning comes from the extra fat you are eating and not your body fat. This will not make you lose additional fat; rather, consuming too much fat might put you in a calorie surplus, which is counterproductive. Remember one thing: the success of any fat loss diet depends on its ability to create a calorie deficit. You should not choose a diet plan based on how fast it can make you lose weight. Rather, select a diet plan that will lead to long-term and permanent weight loss. Let’s look at it in this way: if you have a mild but chronic stomach ache and you go to the doctor. The doctor gives you two choices A) a pill which relieves you of pain instantly but makes the pain worse later B) a tablet which will work slowly but relieve you of pain forever Which pill would you choose?
