Buddha & The Quest For Happiness
Buddha & The Quest For Happiness One day, Lord Buddha was sitting with his disciples when two men approached the meditating Buddha and questioned him. The first man asked, "I'm thinking of moving to this town Lord Buddha. What is it like?" Buddha replied, "What was your old town like?" The first man responded, "It was dreadful and everyone was hateful. I hated it." To this, Buddha said, "This town is very much the same. I don't think you should move here." The first man left and the second man then questioned Buddha. "I'm thinking of moving to this town. What is it like?" Buddha asked him, "What was your old town like?" The second man replied, "It was wonderful and everyone was friendly. I was very happy there. I am interested in moving here just for a change." To this, Buddha replied, "This town is very much the same. I think you will like it here. You should definitely move here." One of Lord Buddha's disciple noticing the difference in Buddha's responses questioned him, "Oh Lord Buddha! You replied differently to each man about the same town. Why did you do that?" Buddha replied, "It's our choice, for whatever we seek is what we find. When one decides to be happy, he will be happy, no matter what."
