Sleep & Stress

Many of us keep talking about how nutrition and training are the keys to our goals for fat loss or muscle gain but we do forget one of the most important aspects of body recomposition and that's rest and sleep.

Sleep is one of the most integral parts of a transformation and has a negative effect on our body in both cases whether we want to lose fat or gain muscle. Lack of sleep has adverse effects on our bodies. It increases our cortisol level and decreases natural testosterone levels which eventually will hinder our muscle gain and might even lead to muscle loss. Lack of sleep increases the activity of degradation pathways and decreases muscle protein synthesis. This also slows down muscle recovery after training.
