Fitness Myths

Yoga for fat loss?

============= In this article, we are discussing very popular Indian fitness myths. This myth is prevailing from decades that now it is treated as a truth and blindly followed by many. Well without a doubt yoga has a lot of benefits to mental and physical health like improved flexibility, core strength, respiration, energy, circulatory health, stretching etc. Many studies have also tried to determine the effectiveness of yoga as a complementary intervention for cancer, asthma, and heart disease. However, these researchers have mixed and inconclusive results. Despite all the above-mentioned benefits yoga cannot be considered as an effective exercise to lose fat. And one should not solely depend on yoga for fat loss. The reason for that is, yoga does not allow you ro burn more calories. If you are doing yoga in a closed room or under the sun which might result in a lot of sweat doesn’t mean that you have lost pounds of fat in sweat. Sweat is the water that your body releases to maintain the body temperature. The most effective ways to lose fat in a healthy way is by following a structured diet plan in a calorie deficit along with resistance training and some cardiovascular exercises. It's known that diet is primary when it comes to fat loss. And irrespective of whether you're doing yoga or engaging in strength training, diet will play the protagonist. However, with strength training, you're bound to retain a lot more muscles than you would in yoga and muscles are equally important to almost all your daily functions. They're the engine of your system. Apart from this, energy expenditure too will be a lot more with strength training. As for yoga, it should be a part of the daily routine because of the various benefits it has to offer. Cheers!
