Is High Protein Diet Safe?

When you cast aside bias, emotions, the science does NOT support the claim that a high protein diet is dangerous. People that consume higher protein diets are leaner, have better health outcomes, better body composition, lower inflammation, and show improvements in blood pressure and blood lipids

High can be defined as a protein intake between 1.5-2.5 gms/kg of bodyweight. In a year-long study that included resistance-trained males, subjects consumed a high protein diet >3g/kg of BW for six months. They showed NO negative health effects, this includes no harmful effects on kidney function, blood lipids, and liver function. In fact, despite the increase in protein, subjects did not increase their fat mass.

For people with pre-existing renal disease (kidney failure) a high protein diet may be a concern but as far as everything I’ve read, it’s still not proven, especially in long term studies

Given what I already said, people that consume higher protein diets are healthier than people that don’t, it simply does NOT make sense to not construct your diet around your protein intake.
