. The thermic effect of food mainly depends on the calorie intake and macronutrients that a person includes in their meals. Various studies have been conducted to test whether increasing meal frequency affects your metabolic rate and caloric expenditure. With the help of these studies we can conclude that our body‘s metabolic rate will not change of the meal frequency is increased. And it is logical to say that the thermic effect of food to process meals is the same as long as the calorie intake is same and hence increasing the frequency of meals doesn't affect ones weight loss program References: Review comparing thermic effect of food from 1-17 meals per day: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9155494
