Will we gain weight if we stop going to gym and working out? When you are consistently working out your body has a revved up basal metabolic rate (bmr) ,the indirect effect is that Strength Training will help you build muscle which in turn does help increase your metabolism (earlier you need 2000calories to maintain your weight . when you stop doing workout may be now you need only 1800 to maintain your weight) . Mean 2000cals now become surplus (TDEE decreases). Also when we stop exercising for any reason then after a time frame your muscles may start to shrink which were formed during exersicing . So, becoming fat is not because you have left the gym, but because you have left the gym but your food intake is still almost the same . You've to create a deficit in your diet to lose fat. How to lose weight/fat ?? - Calorie burned > calorie consumed Exercise increase your tdee and helps in maintaining muscle mass. Hope this is clear. Good luck!
