Weight loss vs. fat loss ================================= While taking our fitness journey we often become obsessed with the weight. Even small fluctuations around 100-200g make us lose our cool. We start questioning the whole process, and at times we end up quitting. So, let's talk about how to stay sane and patient during our fat loss journey. What exactly is weight loss? Your weight loss includes a lot of factors, which provides for losing water weight, losing muscles or losing fat or sometimes losing any two or all of them together. Thus, weight loss doesn't always mean fat loss. Let us talk about fat loss now and why you should focus more on it. Because it may happen that you are losing fat, but you are not losing weight. There can be multiple reasons for the same, Like: a) You are near your menstrual cycle. b) Stress. c) You are not getting enough sleep. d) You are not drinking enough water (Which may cause bloating). The focus should be more on inch loss as compared to the numbers on the weighing scale. Just look at the mirror and if you feel you are making progress then keep going. On our transformation journey, our focus should be more on keeping the muscles intact or minimising their loss while simultaneously losing fat. Now how can do we do that? Start by creating a slight deficit of 300-500 kcals per day and make sure your diet includes an adequate amount of both macronutrients and micronutrients. The researches show that training muscles with weights help us from losing them. So, while you are planning your nutrition, do not forget to add some weight training in your plan.
